What is Oscar de la Renta? "It is a pretty dress," he replied

Oscar de la Renta, 1932-2014

An icon has passed away. He was, as stated by The New York Times, "the doyen of fashion... the last survivor of that generation of bold, all-seeing tastemakers." He wanted women to look and feel their best.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Oscar de la Renta was surrounded by women, 6 sisters, and a mother who believed in his artistic talent and encouraged him to follow his passion, and so he set off on a journey throughout Europe to study fine art. His path would lead him toward the world of couture where he found himself sketching for various design houses. From there the same path would take him on a wildly incredible journey. The New York Times perfectly tells the story of this tremendously talented man and his extraordinary life. Click here to read his obituary.

Heaven is going to be a much more beautiful place...
